| A Coast in Crisis |

Since 1930, Louisiana has lost over 1,500 square miles of fertile coastal wetlands and continues to lose 25 to 30 square miles each year due to coastal erosion and subsidence. That's the loss of a football field of wetlands every 30 minutes. Two of the most rapidly erod ing estuaries on the earth are right here in Southeast Louisiana where Anna Marie Seafood harvests its wild, all-natural Gulf shrimp--the Barataria and Terrebonne basins.
It's cle ar th at erosion of these wetl ands is not just a st ate problem. It's the greatest natural disaster occurring in our nation, and it requires immediate national attention to avoid catastrophic losses throughout the U.S. Anna Marie Seafood asks for your support in urging the federal government to implement aggressive coastal restoration and hurricane protection projects for our fragile coastal areas, especially for the Morganza-to-the-Gulf Hurricane Protection System that will protect the people and resources of Terrebonne Parish from devastating hurricane storm surge.
